Yamaha TR1 CafΓ© Racer – small update

Finally the bike supports itself… Finished figuring out and fabricating the parts for the rear single sided swingarm triangle, connecting the frame, rear shock and swingarm. The TR1 will be low and agressive looking… Looking forward to getting the rear wheel painted and put on a fresh tire πŸ™‚

Until next time – Merry X-Mas and a Happy New Year

Yamaha TR1 CafΓ© Racer customer build

This winter I will build a bike for my first customer… ever πŸ™‚ The bike is a 1981 Yamaha TR1, which was well used. The customer wants USD forks and a single sided swingarm, inspired by some other builds and also my CafΓ© Cross.

For the front fork conversion I’m using a complete front from a Kawasaki ZX12R. This was converted by changing the steering stem on the Kawa triple with the original TR1 stem. All finished up today πŸ™‚

The single sided swingarm is from a Honda VFR 800, and will be a bit more challenging to adapt. I have started the conversion, and the next step is the make a new top mount for the rear damper.

To be continued πŸ˜€
